BEST and the Veterans Chamber of Commerce are currently working on a Veterans Train-the-trainer (VT3) project funded by the Hughes Charitable Foundation. The project establishes a pilot train-the-trainer program to assist Veterans living with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress (PTS) deal with cognitive challenges related to their conditions.
The VT3 project helps train Veterans with TBI/PTS learn to use the BEST Suite app as a prothetic for their brain to deal with many of the common day-to-day cognitive challenges they experience. This nationwide online program provides specific app and cognitive skills training (free of charge) in an anytime, anywhere environment to empower participants to achieve both personal and professional goals and increase everyday success. The model uses an online collaborative hub to establish a community of trainers and participants that learns and shares together.
The 1-year project (ending March 31, 2021) provides the following support (free of charge) for Veteran trainees:
- the BEST Suite app (currently only available for iPhones and iPads)
- online cognitive rehabilitation training
- online TBI/PTSD training
- online BEST Suite tool trainings
- a personal guide/mentor to help trainees better learn to use and integrate the BEST Suite to help with cognitive challenge commonly associated with TBI/PTSD.
